Thousands of years ago Kyrama, a young pagan priestess had to escape from the continent with her tribe. They found a beautiful isle and nested. She has built a sanctuary to request protection from gods. The gods arrived and offered protection for obedience. They ordered sacrefice twice each year. After many bloody centuries one day a huge earthquake destroyed the whole population of Kyrama isles, and the sanctuary was forgotten.
Following an old map centuries later colonists arrived from the continent. They named the isles Kyrama after the legend. The spirits were searching for spiritual contact with the new inhabitants. A magician sensed their call, and opened the sanctuary. The spirits killed the magician, and many people, so that nobody could close the sanctuary again. A smart warrior escaped to a far isle and built a flying machine, named Wing. It was supplied by a mysterious crystal, and he could discourage the spirits from the air.
After further thousands of years the Kyrama island became a kingdom of the Hargunor dynasty. The legend of the Wing and the Warrior became just a feary-tail. Only a couple of people took it seriously. 45 years ago, on a nice spring day Zedelbur, grandfather of Medorak made a putsch and became the lord of Kyrama. However Zedelbur did not know about Hargarn, the last scion of the Hargunor dynasty.
The peace did not take long. The orks of the rocky isles allied and attacked Kyrama. In the great battle they killed a lot of knights and civilians, among others Adryn's parents. Enar the smith and inventor adopted Adryn and brought up with his daughter Rya. When Enar looked after some minerals in a cave he found a stone with the drawing of a strange machine called Wing.
Hints

You'd better find out the tricks yourself needed to survive in Kyrama isles. You even get a lot of hints from the inhabitants too.
However you may check these hints. We experienced them to be useful playing through the game.
- Listen carefully to the conversations. The inhabitants give important clues to solve the quest.
Just the fact that someone stopped talking doesn't mean that he/she has nothing else to say.
- Hunt. Collect food, weapons and treasures.
Sell the treasures to merchants and buy maps, weapons and food.
- If you get lost, switch on the hint in the Game Options menu.
You need maps in order to use the hint.
The hint will show a cross in the map at the next place you should go to.
- Trade well. Do not sell an item at a merchant if you think other merchant would pay more for that.
Their prices are different. Do not buy something if that is cheaper at other merchants.
- Try not running in the presence of a predator until it doesn't attack.
- Always have a torch at you; it frightens the predators also.
Do not use the torch too long because it burns out.
- Collect and buy food and torch before you go to a longer trip to unknown caverns or mountains.
- Organize your travel carefully, for example remember where you have left your horse
and return there with the ship or from a cavern.
- The night is too dangerous to spend outside mainly in jungle.
You'd better to sleep through the night in a city in bed.
- Avoid the flock of wolves, and orc territory. They are very hard to survive.
You'd better to take a big round.
If you get totally lost, you may look into the playthrough: http://web.axelero.hu/aszalkai/walk.htm
Cheat codes: Start console by pressing the ` key and type in:

Troubleshootuing

Problem: The game crashes or load game does not work.
Solution: Download and install the newest version of the game. http://web.axelero.hu/aszalkai/wing1.exe
If you have purchased the game, it will update the full version.
Problem: The game runs at a slow frame rate or stalls.
Solution: Change some of the following settings to improve the performance under the Video Options:
- Change quality lower
- Turn off shadows
- Turn on dynamic quality
If you set quality 1 2 or 3 and restart Wing, low-resolution textures will be used.
Problem: The screen appears solid and you can see nothing, or the shadows look incorrect the icons are corrupted, or the leaves have black rectangular halo, or the farther objects are over closer ones.
Solution: Your 3D-card driver is out of date. You need to download the latest version or install a reference driver. Try to switch off the shadows.
Problem: Sound breaks up.
Solution: Some older sound card cannot handle the amount of data being processed by Wing: Released Spirits. You should try to upgrade your sound card driver, or you may need to upgrade your sound card to a newer model.
Problem: Wing does not start or looks bad.
Solution: You can start wing.exe wit the following command line options:
The engine configuration text file is conf.txt in the program's folder.
Option Effect -windowed Run in window instead of fullscreen. -lowtex Small textures used. -nosound Sound and music disabled. -stats Show performance meters. -sw Hardware 3D acceleration disabled. -resx=XXX Set screen width to XXX, for example 640 -resy=YYY Set screen height to YYY, for example 480 -depth=DD Set screen depth to DD bits, for example 16
You may make a safe copy and try to start Wing making the following changes one by one:
Change Effect resx=XXX Set screen width to XXX, for example 640 resy=YYY Set screen height to YYY, for example 480 depth=DD Set screen depth to DD bits, for example 16 lowtex=1 Small textures used. zbuf=1 Traditional sort order of triangles. multitex=0 Shadows and environment maps disabled. specular=0 Metal shines disabled. filter=0 Hardware texture smoothing disabled. resx=400 resy=300 depth=16 Set even lower screen resolution. sw=1 Hardware 3D acceleration disabled. sound=0 Sound and music disabled. wnd=1 Run in window instead of fullscreen. zbuf=0 Sort ordering of triangles disabled. Still I have questions.
